How do I set up and use voicemail?

Activating voicemail

Your voicemail setup depends on whether your service is connected to the plan network or the O2 network.

Plan network

  • All devices: Manage voicemail in my.plan under:

Controls > Device Setup > Call Forwarding & Voicemail

O2 network

  • Android: Dial 1750
  • iPhone: Make sure your APN settings are up to date. It can take up to 4 days for voicemail to appear in your Phone app.

Accessing voicemail

Plan network

  • Android: Dial 222 (or 0161 464 3231 when roaming)
  • iPhone: Tap the voicemail icon in your Phone app

O2 network

  • Android: Dial 901 (or 0161 464 3231 when roaming)
  • iPhone: Tap the voicemail icon in your Phone app

Setting up your voicemail PIN

A four-digit PIN is required when accessing voicemail from another device or abroad.

Plan network

  • Dial 222 and follow the automated instructions

O2 network

  • Default PIN is 8705 (unless changed)
  • To reset: text RESET to 802901

🔐 Your PIN must not be:

  • Repeated numbers (e.g. 2222)
  • Consecutive numbers (e.g. 1234 or 4321)
  • Your year of birth

Recording your voicemail greeting

To record a greeting your callers will hear:

  • Dial 901 (O2) or 222 (plan network)
  • Follow the menu instructions to record your message

Costs of voicemail

  • Receiving voicemail: Always free
  • Listening in the UK or Europe Zone: Free
  • Listening outside the Europe Zone: Charged at standard roaming call rates
  • Listening from another device: Charges depend on that device’s provider
