How do I send or receive picture messages (MMS)?

What is MMS?

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) lets you send and receive:

  • Pictures and videos
  • Audio files
  • Text messages over 160 characters

This makes communication more interactive compared to standard SMS.

⚠️ MMS is only available to plan customers on the O2 network.

Changing your settings

To use MMS, your phone may need:

  • The latest software update.
  • Correct APN settings.

These settings allow your device to connect properly. If you’re unsure, see our APN settings guide.

Charges for MMS

  • Receiving MMS: Free.
  • Sending MMS: Charged.

You can find the exact cost in our Pricing Guide.

💡 Tip: Track your MMS usage easily in your my.plan account to avoid unexpected charges.

If you’re on the plan network

MMS is not available on the plan.com network.

Instead, you can send pictures, videos, and long texts using internet-based apps such as:

  • WhatsApp
  • iMessage
  • Facebook Messenger
  • Other messaging apps

These use your mobile data or Wi-Fi rather than MMS charges.
