Requesting a PAC or STAC code
If you’re thinking about switching to another provider, you may need a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) or STAC (Service Termination Authorisation Code). This guide explains what these codes are, how to get them, how long they last, and how to keep your information secure.
What is a PAC code?
A PAC lets you move your number to a new provider.
Use a PAC if you want to keep your current number.
You can request one even if you’re still in contract, but early termination fees may apply.
What is a STAC code?
A STAC lets you leave your provider without keeping your number.
Use a STAC if you want a new number with your new provider.
Like with a PAC, early termination fees may apply if you’re still in contract.
How to get a PAC or STAC
There are three easy ways to request your code:
Online: Go to go.plan.com.
-
By text:
Text PAC to 65075 (free) to get a PAC.
Text STAC to 75075 (free) to get a STAC.
For accounts with 25 or more services, requests are typically completed within 10 working days. Please note that this process cannot be carried out via SMS — it can only be completed by contacting our team directly.
PAC and STAC codes are issued within 2 working days and are valid for 30 days. If you don’t use your code in time, you’ll need to request a new one.
If the service was connected within 14 days of requesting a PAC or disconnection, please contact your Account Manager. Alternatively, you can speak with a Plan Customer Service Representative by logging into My Plan and using Live Chat, or by calling +44 330 088 1818
How to use your code
When you’re ready to switch:
Give your PAC or STAC code to your new provider.
They’ll arrange the transfer or disconnection.
Replacing your SIM with your new provider’s SIM completes the process.
⚠️ You may experience up to 24 hours of downtime during the switch while your number transfers.
Security and fraud prevention
PAC and STAC codes should only ever be requested by the account holder (the person who signed the contract). To keep your account secure:
Only request codes through official plan channels.
Never share your code with anyone other than your new provider.
If you suspect fraud or suspicious activity, contact us immediately.
✅ With PAC and STAC codes, switching is quick, safe, and straightforward — whether you want to take your number with you or start fresh with a new one.
