There are four elements to a Spend Control¹:
- Usage Type - choose between data, calls, text messages or any combination of the three.
- Usage - choose to be notified of up to 3 allowance usage milestones.
- Spending Limit - choose no overspending or to be barred once a chosen overspending limit has been reached.
- Notification - choose who we notify.
Once the overspending limit you have chosen is reached, a bar will trigger against the usage type in question to prevent any further access to that usage type. A Captive Page is sent to the user, the account holder and the billing contact (if different).
The Captive Page provides options to continue service access by either adding a cost saving bolt-on or, to increasing the original spending limit. Choosing either will automatically release the restriction, to provide continued access.
Allowances are renewed at the beginning of the next calendar month and any restriction is automatically removed.
Ofcom Total Spending Cap
Available to all new customers who joined plan.com from 1st October 2018 and existing customers who renewed from that date, the Ofcom cap eliminates the need to choose a usage type against which to set a Spend Control.
Simply choose no overspending or to be barred once a chosen overspending limit has been reached. Once the limit is reached, no matter how reached, service will be restricted to any activity that would not incur further charges.
Allowances are renewed at the beginning of the next calendar month and any restriction is automatically removed.
