A Spending Limit is our mechanism*, with a number of adjustable features, that can result in a bar being triggered.
An bar is the absolute action that prevents access to usage or specific types of usage, such as roaming data or chargeable calls.
To configure a Spending Limit, from your my.plan dashboard, go to:
CONTROLS > SPEND CONTROLS > DATA/CALLS/TEXTS > [UK/EU or Roaming] >[select user] > SET UP
*available to Gold & Platinum account users or Essential account users after an upgrade
Ofcom Total Spend Cap
All plan.com customers who joined from 1st October 2018, or renewed from that date can choose to set an Ofcom Total Spending Cap, which will prevent all access to any further usage that would incur charges, once the pre-set Spending Cap has been reached and regardless of how reached.
So, if a £10 cap is set, the restriction is triggered, regardless of whether data use, calls made, texts sent or any combination of the three lead to the £10 charge being incurred.
Any bars triggered as a result of any spending cap being reached can be removed at any time, by authorised account users and a fresh (higher) limit can be set, or a bolt-on can be added to ensure continued service.
Otherwise, any bar will deactivate at the beginning of each calendar month, when allowances are renewed.
