When you first connect to the plan.com network, you'll automatically receive a 'powered by plan.com' text message that will ask you to update your data settings. Typically, even before updating your data settings, you will be able to access UK mobile data, make calls and send and receive texts. So, what's the big deal? Why the need to change your data settings?
By default, your data settings will likely be set to O2's APN* and you will be able to access mobile data. However, we have developed our own APN, that sits above O2's, which allows us to provide more features and perhaps crucially, react more quickly to your data usage to prevent extra charges being incurred.
*The Access Point Name (APN) is the name for the settings your phone needs to set up a connection to the public Internet.
On top of that, 4G and Wifi Calling, MMS, tethering and roaming data are unavailable until your data settings are updated.
Less than a minute: that's all it takes for you to configure to the plan.com APN, so make sure you click on the link in your welcome message or follow these instructions:
Go to your phone's settings and locate your Access Point Names (sometimes called Mobile Data Network or APN).
Edit the existing settings with the following details then restart your device:
APN | data.plan.com |
Username | PLAN |
PASSWORD | (Leave this field empty) |
