Our number one goal is to provide you with versatility and superior control of your mobile services. A key way we do this is through a variety of temporary increases to your base Tariff allowances or features called Bolt-Ons.
But what exactly is a Bolt-On? Bolt-Ons are additional benefits you can add to your existing mobile tariff. They allow you to boost your existing allowances of data, international calls, texts, and even roaming ability for those overseas adventures.
What Bolt-Ons Do We Offer?
There are several types of Bolt-Ons available at plan.com:
Data Boosts: These can help you make your data allowance go further. Data Boost Bolt-Ons are available in a range of sizes. They are compatible with mobile and mobile broadband tariffs (excluding unlimited mobile tariff and MBB 100GB tariff).
Roaming Bolt-Ons: Enable you to use your mobile services abroad while controlling your costs. This can be added as a Daily or Regular Bolt-On for roaming use.
International Calls & Texts Bolt-Ons: These focus on your ability to make calls or send texts while at home to recipients outside of the UK.
Remember, Bolt-Ons are meant to supplement your tariff and provide that extra bit of service when necessary. Bolt-Ons are not intended to replace your existing package but enhance it.
Add a Bolt-On
Adding a Bolt-On to your plan is a straightforward process:
- Log in to your my.plan account.
- Open the Products menu from the top navigation bar or by clicking on an individual service.
- Select the type of Bolt-On you'd like to add from the options: the choices are Call, Data, and Text, ensuring the correct user is selected in the left-side menu.
- Once you are happy, click Add.

When Do My Bolt-On Allowances Refresh?
For recurring Bolt-Ons, your allowances will refresh monthly on your billing date. Non-recurring Bolt-Ons last from the point they are added to the end of the billing month and do not automatically renew.
Please note that Bolt-Ons cannot be prorated (e.g. only paying half for half a month) or refunded once purchased.
Do Bolt-Ons Cost Extra?
Yes, Bolt-Ons do cost extra as they supplement your standard mobile plan and give you additional allowances. The cost will depend on the type and size of the Bolt-On you choose.
