Navigating through your communication charges can often be a complex process, but with plan.com, we aim to bring transparency to the entire affair.
We call charges outside of your standard tariff Out of Bundle charges or Additional Charges. They are occasionally referred to as overage or overcharges, too. If you find charges in addition to your regular bill, it likely means you've used services that fall outside of the scope of your contracted tariff.
When Could Additional Charges Occur?
There are several instances when additional charges may be incurred:
-
Beyond Allowances: One of the most common reasons is usage beyond your agreed allowances. If you exceed your allowance, calls, texts, or data usages could draw additional charges.
-
Non-standard Services: Certain types of calls and services, like Premium Rate or non-geographic numbers, aren't included in your standard allowances and thus result in additional charges.
-
Satellite Usage: If your device is connected to a satellite network, it's beyond the scope of your standard contract and can lead to additional charges.
-
International and Roaming: Extra charges often appear in the case of International calls and texts (connecting to people while in the UK who are outside the UK) and while Roaming. If you're contacting people who are abroad or travelling abroad and use your phone or device, your standard tariff may not cover these locations, leading to additional charges. Refer to Roaming Issues for additional information.
Roaming and Additional Charges
Roaming charges are incurred when you use your phone outside of your network's domestic coverage area. At plan.com, we believe in complete transparency when it comes to charges associated with roaming:
-
Our customers will usually incur roaming charges when they travel abroad and use their phone or device. This may include call charges, data charges, and voicemail charges.
-
We offer Spend Controls to protect you from undue charges. With Spend Controls, your data usage can be automatically limited or limited whilst you're abroad to prevent unexpected charges. You have the option to opt-out and opt-in to any configured Spend Controls in your my.plan account.
-
When roaming in a destination in our plan.com Europe Zone, you can use your regular allowance at no extra cost. However, this changes when your usage crosses permissible Fair Usage limits, and you might have charges applied to your account. Please review our Legal documentation for more information on Fair Usage Thresholds.
-
Roaming charges can vary depending on the country you're visiting, so check the specific charges for that country on our roaming guide before you travel.
Unlimited Allowances and Additional Charges
At plan.com, having an unlimited allowance doesn't necessarily mean you won't see extra charges. While you have unlimited usage of certain services, some usage types are extra by nature. For example, even with unlimited texts, texts to Premium Rate numbers, non-geographic numbers, or international numbers will still incur an extra charge.
In summary, while you may see extra charges appearing on your bill from time to time, we make sure that every charge is justified and comes with an explainable reason expressed in plain English. At plan.com, we ensure transparency in our billing, and we believe in keeping our customers informed about their telecommunication usage and associated charges.
