What are Ofcom Total Spend Caps?
All customers who either joined plan.com on or after 1st October 2018, or renewed on or after that date, can set an ‘Ofcom Spend Cap’.
This allows for a spend cap to be set that will trigger a service restriction once reached, no matter how it’s reached e.g. data , call or text usage.
For example, if a £10 limit is set and reached, whether the extra costs were incurred by data use alone or a combination of data, calls and texts use, the service will be restricted.
To set an ‘Ofcom’ Spending Limit, go to:
CONTROLS > SPEND CONTROLS > OFCOM TOTAL SPEND CAP > [select service] > SET UP
Or on the service panels:
[select service] > CONTROLS > DEVICE CONTROLS
Limitations
Ofcom Spend Cap limits do not restrict certain types of account and service-based charges, including (but not limited to) calls and texts to premium-rate and non-geographic numbers, the addition of bolt-ons, automatic upgrade charges linked to our pro-plan Switch tariff, account charges such as non-payment charges, or certain charges to mobile services that allow you to pay for goods or services from app stores, third party publishers, and merchants via your phone bill.
